We’re excited to share an update about St. Raphael School and the upcoming transition. Construction continues, with the southern half (Regina Public Schools’ Tawâw School) ready for students this fall. The northern half, which will house St. Raphael School, will be ready in January 2026.
Regina Catholic Schools has never before combined two school communities and moved into a new building in the middle of the school year. To prepare for this, we will start the 2025-2026 school year with two temporary St. Raphael School sites:
- St. Raphael East (former St. Michael) Grades 5–8
- St. Raphael West (former St. Peter) PreK–Grade 4
This lets students stay with their classmates, stick with the same staff, and maintain their learning communities as they do every year. Principal Tammy Appell will oversee both sites, with Vice Principals assigned to each location.
Students who live within the current St. Peter and St. Michael walking boundaries will continue to walk to that site, and those eligible for RCSD Transportation will ride the bus to that site. Then, RCSD will bus students to their assigned school building. For example, a student in Grade 6 who lives within the current St. Peter walking boundary will walk to St. Raphael West, then ride the bus over to St. Raphael East. This will keep older siblings and younger siblings together for transportation between home and school. After school, the same will happen in reverse.
Timeline:
- June 2025: St. Michael and St. Peter Schools close permanently.
- September 2025: St. Raphael East and West open at the former St. Michael and St. Peter sites.
- December 2025: St. Raphael East and West close permanently.
- January 2026: St. Raphael School (PreK-8) opens in its permanent location, 155 Hamilton Street.
Stay tuned… students are voting on school colours, and we’re excited to start the search for the St. Raphael School mascot!
