On February 11, 1899, Catholic ratepayers in Regina gathered to decide whether to create a separate school district in Regina. Upon deciding in the affirmative, they elected the first Board of Trustees.
Eight Trustees formed that very first Board. Charles McCucker served as Board Chair, and John McCarthy as the Secretary Treasurer. Anton Kaltenbruwwer, Basil Molisky, Ed McCarthy, Jacob Zarr, J. Moliski and Christian Mayer made up the rest of the Board.
Our First Board Chair, Charles McCusker was a member of Regina town council for six years. He served on the Public School Board and later when the Gratton Separate School District was established, he acted as its Board Chair for nine years. He died in 1916, survived by six children.
