Opening Mass
As we start each new school year, Regina Catholic Schools holds a mass. Blessed to fill Resurrection Parish with staff from every school and division office, Opening Mass is the largest mass in the Archdiocese of Regina.
Typically, the staff of a school celebrating an anniversary year will provide servers for the mass, including MC services for the non-mass portions of the day. We get to hear from our Director and Board Chair each year, recognize long time employees and follow with some professional learning to motivate and inspire Catholic permeation in all we do.
We invite other clergy members to concelebrate along with the Archbishop of Regina, and we invite our musically inclined colleagues to lead us in song. The RCSD Staff Choir is a highlight every year, and we’re grateful for each of them and their willingness to share their gifts. Having multiple clergy, faithful altar servers and many others working behind the scenes speaks to the greatness of Opening Mass.
The energy the day of each Opening Mass is a blessing that carries throughout the school year. Filling not just every pew, but every chair available in the biggest Catholic church building in Regina feels special, whether it’s your first or 30th year. This gathering is a gift we treasure.
