The annual event known as Giving Tuesday provided for giving in more ways than one would expect at St. Michael School. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. The idea caught on, and has grown around the world, inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity( https://www.givingtuesday.ca/about).
Given the responsibility of spearheading acts of charity within the school community, the student leadership group was able to provide an opportunity for the delivery of food and drink to the local foodbank as well as challenge students to think about giving at a time when Christmas wish lists are being made!
The student leadership group was given the chance to be decision-makers and change leaders in the school. A powerful learning experience like this helps the students understand the characteristics that will serve them well no matter which path they choose in life.
